There are just so many things that we can say about this: from the shadow of the dragon soaring above the red keep, to the champion of Mereen charging headlong towards Daario Naharis. From Tyrion in shackles to Jaime being fitted for his golden hand (with short brown hair, wtf?!)…
There are so many moments in this trailer that mesmerize, but my initial impression is that the greatest among these is Oberyn Martell talking to Tyrion Lannister “Tell your father I am here, and that Lannisters are not the only ones who pay their debts.” In that moment, I feel all doubt about Pedro Pascal was wiped away and only excitement remained.
Cersei shows exactly how bad she is at being her father, while Joffrey sneers over his new bride – doing a very good job of not giving us any indication of that thing we all know is coming.
Of course there are so many more tiny moments (I never even touched on the Melisandre or Night’s Watch moments in the Trailer) that I could go on for hours about this tiny, two-minute clip. Suffice it to say… my excitement has really been raised by this trailer!
How did you react to the trailer? Are you as excited for season four of Game of Thrones as I am? Let us know in the comments; or email us at castinthedarkness at gmail dot com, or tweet at @castinthedark using the hastag #CitDTrailer and who knows. maybe this post itself is merely a preview some something bigger yet to come!
My apologies for the lack of updates last week, but personal drama, etc etc. In good news, picked up some new camera equipment so the video content should be improving exponentially as I figure out how best to use it.
I’m here with what I hope to be a regular segment I’d like to give you guys some of my thoughts on the ever-changing Thronesiverse. Inspired by CBC Hockey journalism icon Elliott Friedman’s note series “30 Thoughts” in which he provides 30 short notes on the week’s news in the NHL, I’d like to provide some short opinions on the things going on in our world. I won’t be getting to 30 thoughts each week, but I’m eager to see where this might go.
We have had a pretty good week on the blog, the videos are going over well, and there are more on the way, so stay tuned! Personally some stuff has arisen which has distracted me from my duties, I won’t bother you with the details, but I’m feeling somewhat Tully-ish the past few days.
So, what that perosnal pity party out of the way, let’s get on to this week’s Game of Thrones news!
I’m glad that so many of you have been enjoying the video series I’ve been posting last week and this, the views have been impressive and I’ve gotten a lot of good feedback, both positive and constructive!
That said, there is major news bubbling around the thronesiverse; The Emmys happened last weekend and the outrage is palpable all over the internet. Our beloved fantasy epic got snubbed!
It’s been about a week since the blog has been updated, and there has been a bit of news since I’ve been absent (please forgive my absence, I’m moving in a week and that is taking all of my ‘me time’). For the foreseeable future I suspect that this blog will be updated more sporadically with larger updates. Once my move is complete, however, I will do my best to gear back up. Continue reading →
All of the Game of Thrones news this afternoon seems to be revolving around Peter Dinklage’s role in the upcoming Xmen film: Days of Future Past. Dinklage will be playing Bolivar Trask, the military scientist best known for having created the Sentinel robotic mutant hunter.
The Thronesiverse is also abuzz with Kit Harrington being quoted stating that “(Season four) is my favourite one so far.” This should come as a surprise to nobody who has read the books, considering the depth of Jon Snow’s story in the second half of A Storm of Swords and A Feast for Crows. I won’t be putting any spoilers up in this blog post (though be advised, the podcast we are working on will not be spoiler free), but suffice it to say that Jon Snow gets promoted to ‘series star’ in the second half of the currently published series of books.
Getting away from the news for a little bit, there was something I wanted to discuss about the news that came out a couple of days ago.
