Games of Thrones: aGoT LCG Tournament – Round 1

Last weekend, My FLGS (Friendly Local Gaming Store) held a Game of Thrones LCG tournament holding a Game Night kit up as prize support.  12 competitors joined in the fun, only one managed to come out with the grand prize: a beautiful Khal Drogo Playmat!

Please follow along as I present some featured matches from the tournament featuring some familiar faces as well as a bunch of competitors you haven’t met yet!

First up: Round one, featuring yours truly piloting a Lannister No Agenda deck (similar in concept to the deck that won World Championships two weeks ago) facing off against Mark Holmes, a player from out of town whose playground traveled onto our turf with the sole intention of taking our prizes!  Mark is playing  a Martell No Agenda deck that features Quentin Martell and a few unique deckbuilding choices.  I had a lot of fun playing this game, and it was incredibly even all the way to the final turn!

I hope you enjoy this video, and stay tuned for more featured games from the tournament over the next month or so!

Good morning Night’s Watchmen!

Episode 3 of the podcast dropped this morning, and this one was a ton of fun to record!  We are joined by Tiffany, one of our loyal readers and a good friend to both Clay and myself to discuss some Nerdy hobbies, some comic books and all things Thronesian.

This episode will contain spoilers for the upcoming fourth season of Game of Thrones, so please be advised in case you are sensitive to those things.

Please check it out on the Podcasts page! Be sure to subscribe to the podcast on iTunes, or point your favourite RSS reader to the feed you can find on that page!

As a quick update to the video side of the podcast.  I decided to scrap the first set of videos we did this month, however I have about eight videos recorded from the Game of Thrones LCG tournament my Local Store held last weekend, including a couple of great games in the semifinals and the tournament finals!  I’m hoping to get the first batch of these up by the weekend.

That’s all for now folks, stay tuned for more awesome content forthcoming!

Thoughts on Thrones: Sansa Stark Edition!

Sansa Stark, World-beater or Stockholm survivor?

Let’s get this out of the way right from the start: this post will contain some serious spoilers for books 3-5 and certainly for the television show season three, which hasn’t been released on dvd as of this posting.  If you haven’t read to the end of book five, please turn back now and check out one of our other fantastic posts!  Otherwise, let’s venture into the incredibly intriguing world of Character Profiles!

I solicited topics for Thoughts on Thrones last week, and immediately I got a really fantastic one; Sansa Stark.  She is one of the mos polarizing characters on the show, with fan bases around the world split about how important she is to the kingdom and ultimately to the end game of this never-ending conflict betwen the kingdoms and their Iron Throne.

Cast in the Darkness Podcast – Episode 2 “Welcome to Murica!”

Good morning Night’s Watchmen!

Some of you might already know, but Episode 2 of the podcast dropped last night, and I think this one is a doozy!  We are joined by Kristina in order to break down Episode 1 of HBO’s Game of Thrones TV show.

For those of you who are invested in this sort of thing: This episode is SPOILER FREE!

Please check it out on the Podcasts page, and you can view the show notes on the episode page (forthcoming)!

I know there was no Games of Thrones entry this weekend, I’m having a hell of a time figuring out how to get the video and audio combined in a sensible manner… hopefully I’ll be able to figure that out this week without the podcast sitting on my computer as well.

That’s all for now folks, stay tuned for more awesome content forthcoming!

Games of Thrones: FFG AGoT Greyjoy vs Baratheon

Good evening Night’s Watchmen!

Please enjoy this video from the recording session Clay and I had a few weeks ago.  This is the final recording session we did with the old camera.  Tomorrow we are recording again, and we have some brand new video equipment which should help to make the games even more dynamic and enjoyable!  We are also recording episode two of the Cast in the Darkness podcast, we will be discussing Episode one of the HBO Game of THrones tv show.  So please feel free to email us (castinthedarkness at gmail dot com) or leave a comment with something you would like us to discuss!

This week’s offering is Greyjoy House of Dreams against Baratheon House of Dreams.  This game was a bit longer than last week’s, and it was much more tense the whole way through as well.

Hopefully you’ll enjoy it enough to give the youtube channel a subscribe!
